Cabral Station Neighborhood Revitalization

Demolition will begin soon is complete on the Bockmon & Woody buildings adjacent to Stockton’s ACE Cabral Station in order to make way for the new station entryway.  As many of you may know, we have been working for quite a while on a design for this project, and we are now ready to begin construction.  The first phase of this construction project includes the demolition of the old Bockmon & Woody Electric property, which will begin this week.  The Bockmon & Woody property is located to the west of the Cabral Station on the corner of Aurora Street and Miner Avenue.

ACE passengers will not be affected by this demolition phase and should expect no disruptions to normal business activity.

Coming soon – construction of the new entryway off Aurora Street, a new traffic circulation plan through the station property, and repositioned parking stalls.  Stay tuned for more information regarding this second phase of the construction project.

Spare the Air - Ride Transit Free

Mark your calendars for June 19th which will be the only free transit day of 2008.  ACE, along with BART, Caltrain and the Capitol Corridor train will be free until 12 noon.  Transit will be free on buses and light-rail all day.  The free transit day is sponsored by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District) and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC).  The purpose of Spare the Air days is to reduce pollutants in the air, which can be accomplished by driving less and using alternate modes of transportation.  Spare the Air also encourages residents to use non-gasoline-powered lawn equipment and avoid using household products that cause pollution.  Spare the Air advisories are issued on days when air quality forecast are unhealthy, however June 19th will be the only free transit day.

June 19th is also the third annual "Dump the Pump" day which is sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).  "Dump the Pump" is a national campaign that encourages people to use public transportation.
