ACE First Responder Training

On April 27, 28, and 29 2010, the Valley Transportation Authority hosted the Altamont Commuter Express and nearly 120 Santa Clara fire fighters for free equipment familiarization training.  Participants spent time learning how to access the equipment under emergency and normal conditions.  Separate learning stations were setup covering the locomotive, cab and coach cars.  The goal of this training was to arm potential First Responders with knowledge of rail operations and passenger rail equipment in the event they respond to an emergency involving ACE.

Safety and security of ACE passengers is our number one concern.  We strive to lead commuter rail in forging long lasting relationships with our first responder stakeholders by providing them focused training on working in and around railroad equipment in emergencies and non-emergencies.

ACE First Responder Training

Last week the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) hosted the Altamont Commuter Express for equipment familiarization training for first responders in Tracy.  At the training, all Tracy city firefighters, DLA firefighters and DLA Police had the opportunity to receive detailed instructions and hands-on equipment familiarization with ACE train equipment.  Field representatives from the Transportation Security Administration Office of Rail Compliance and Union Pacific Police also participated.  A total of 112 first responders were trained.  This free training was offered to participants in the interest of safety so they know their way around the railroad and equipment in case of emergency.
