ACE in Washington D.C.

Keeping the ACE Service in the minds of federal legislators and staff is an ongoing effort as there are many transit systems across the country vying for their attention and financial support.  This year as part of our overall approach, we asked the ACEPac members to go back to Washington in November to share their commute stories and ideas for improving ACE.  These meetings helped personalize the transportation issues facing our region and generated a lot of follow-up interest.

Earlier this month, I went to Washington with a group of agency and business leaders to unite behind our major regional transportation needs.  The ACE Service is an important part of the future strategies to preserve travel options between the Central Valley and the Bay Area.   One of the topics that generated the most interest is the potential conversion of the ACE locomotives from diesel to a more sustainable fuel source.  The other issue of obvious importance is the need for an ACE Corridor that can be upgraded for major speed and reliability improvements.  Congressman Cardoza and Congressman McNerney spent a great deal of time with us and are actively seeking ways they can support these ACE initiatives.

Stay tuned for more information.

Stress Management On-Board Seminar Provided by Doctors Hospital of Manteca

Thursday May 1, 2008 Doctors Hospital of Manteca will be on-board ACE Rail providing a free Stress Management seminar to riders.  The seminar will be conducted by Crista Moore, Medical Social Worker.  The seminar will provide you with information on identifying stress and techniques to live by.

The on-board seminar will take place on ACE #06 in the upper level of car 1 (next to the locomotive.)  The first half of the seminar will be conducted after departing Fremont while the train traverses Niles Canyon.  The second half of the seminar will be held after departing Vasco Road station while crossing Altamont Pass.  You are invited to participate in both segments of the seminar, however each section covers different material so you do not need to be present for both.

For more information please contact Hubert Hanrahan, Manager of Marketing and Customer Service.

ACE Train Delay on April 7, 2008

At approximately 5:40 p.m. ACE 06 was traveling east from Pleasanton to Livermore when it struck a trespasser who was on the tracks.  The trespasser was injured and taken to a local hospital. The investigation of the incident delayed ACE 06 by two hours and subsequently ACE 08 was also delayed.  The two trains were coupled together and departed at approximately 7:45 p.m.

Bike Lockers

Please be advised that we have bike lockers available at the following locations: Manteca, Vasco & Livermore.  For more information regarding bike lockers, please contact Susan Payan at susanp@acerail.com.

ACE #04 Slowed Out of Fremont

ACE 04 has experienced mechanical problems and is 20 minutes behind schedule after departing the Fremont station.  The generator for the head-end power unit is not functioning properly and the train is operating on battery power.  Because of this, the train must slow to 20 mph at each signal crossing for security and safety purposes.  At this time, I anticipate ACE 04 arriving into the Stockton station approximately 30 - 40 minutes behind schedule.
