Makes sense. It only got 50 passengers because it was not in a peak commute slot. Wonder what the folks who were relying on it to get to school will do. Will a bus replace it?

If the train ran at 7:30am out of Stockton and returned at 6:30pm out of San Jose you'd get a heckuva lot more than 50 passengers daily! Too bad the commision isn't willing to try it out.

I've taken this train. People take it going to doctors in Pleasanton Area and the Bay Area and to San Francisco or Stanford utilizing BART, Wheels, in conjunction with other public transportation. Hope to see it return again. What about federal funding for a high speed rail so that people in Central Valley/Tracy will have these ammenities? Thanks! Hope the economy picks up soon, too.

I understand about the mid-day train.
Why is the 6:30pm bus from San Jose being cancelled? Not only me but others depend on that bus being available. Especially for those my bus was late, got stuck in traffic, had to work late or missed the last train moments. Since the 6:30pm bus soon to be "WAS" available. We knew that there was at least one last mode of transportation to get home.

This is really bad news. How many people ride the 12:05 San Jose to Stockton train on FRIDAY'S? Lots more that mid week I would guess. We just want to get home after a long week of working long hours in order to get off early on Fridays.

Ok, I just heard about the late bus being cancelled. Wow. So now if we don't go running out of work early every day to catch the (what I call early) last train, we're completely screwed? Yikes.

I understood removing the midday train but what is the justification for removing the last bus? Is it really that expensive to operate one bus?

I have taken the last bus a couple of times when I missed the 5:30pm train, but would highly prefer a train in the slot. If a train were in the slot i'd take ACE 2-3 more times a week instead of driving.

Where are the meeting minutes from the SJRC board meeting anyway that made these decisions? It's been almost 2 weeks since the meeting occured. Maybe that would help to answer our questions as to why the last bus was cancelled.

Regrettably, Amtrak will not be able to continue their partial funding of the late night #3910 bus due to reduced state subsidies. As a result, ACE/SJRRC cannot fully subsidize the continued operation of this bus.

This means I will be driving more. I rode the mid day train at least once a week. I often have early morning conference calls, that prevent me from taking the earlier train, and I do from them home and then take the mid-day train in. It really irks me that the government subsides highway construction and bails out banks but doesn't help with public transportation.

Please consider alternate, flexible solutions.

A cost effective way to serve the community is to use a train for large number of people and substitute a bus when appropriate. An additional cost saving may be incurred if someone who needs to commute from Stockton to San Jose anyways was paid for driving. This technique may also be contracted to a local bus agency or firm.

I took this train sometimes when I had to work late and just needed an extra hour of sleep but for the most part, I felt the hours of this train were not convenient. 9:30AM out of Stockton is just too late. I wish it could have been 8:30AM. I would have taken it much more frequently if that were the case. Please consider when you bring it back changing the time to 8:30AM.
